I've been there for the first private dinner they hosted. This was a magical experience. One cheese is arranged in three different plates (appetizer, main course and dessert), and it is matched with wine. It was so good! The chief and the owner were talking about the cheese, the recipe and the wine before each part of the meal. It was totally worth it and I highly recommend this whole experience.
Very small menu with a Cafe style of ordering. The food only took 10 min to arrive at the table and I was pleased with my macaroni but not overly impressed. The bowl was very hot to the touch and kept my food warm during my conversation with friends at the tables in the beautiful sunroom area of the restaurant. The water supplied was warm and didn't taste good at all.
Amazing cheese selection, wine selection and staff that are friendly, knowledgeable and fun! A must see place in San Fran.
Great food and wine for snacking and purchasing. Also, fantastic classes!!
They have a great selection of cheeses that you order and eat there or take home. They also have classes in wine and cheese.
Mozzarella sandwich and grilled cheese sandwich ðŸ‘ðŸ¼
I was interested in this place as soon as I seen it. My husband and I took 2 family members here. 3 of us ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup and 1 ordered the Mac and cheese. The tomato soup wasn’t bad but honestly we weren’t big fans of the grilled cheese or Mac and cheese. I felt like I could have made way better at home. I love small portions of food but we didn’t feel like the price matched the food. I would go back to drink wine and eat cheese but I wouldn’t order any cooked food again.
They only sell cheese and wine and some merchandise
"Say Cheese" - we had the French onion soup, the daily cheese board, & red wine. Everything was delicious, the service was personable, & the view was stunning.
Grilled cheese, Tomato soup, and some white wine...wining combo. As a local, wonder what happens when word gets out
I didn't try anything there but they have a large variety of cheese that looked very tempting!
Excellent selection of cheese. Great sandwiches. Lovely place.
Simply excellent for cheese lovers with excellent view n choice. The cheese board was amazing
Fantastic French onion soup! The perfect balance of cheese, onion, and broth. The cream braised pork sandwich is tender and juicy. The pork au jus is a nice addition but not necessary. Truly a phenomenal dining experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
I highly recommend getting their meat & cheese board! I was hesitant to order it at first, simply because I was skeptical that it would be enough for for the price. However, it did not disappoint! The accompaniments were paired very well, it was all quite tasty. Their grilled cheese was also very flavorful, especially with the tomato soup on the side. The only thing we didn't like as much was that we couldn't get much info out of our cashier while we were trying to order - we wanted to know the portion sizes of a few items, but we weren't given any helpful answers. She also made it seem like the meet & cheese board would be smaller, and that the sandwich would be much bigger. So that wasn't really true. Overall though, the food was great and the staff was very friendly!
Awesome food, all fresh and delicious.
I had the cheese tray which was incredibly well-balanced. it had three kinds of cheeses one hard one medium and one soft. It also had some other nice pieces of baguette and some dried fruit and other things which balanced out extremely well and paired nicely with the red wine I chose.there's also a classroom upstairs to take classes related to cheese. In addition, the staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful.
An awesome grilled cheese!
Amazing little cheese spot to pick up a picnic, have a cheesy bite, or take a class. Loved their wine selection and incredible cheeses! I must take a Summer School class, only $30 for 1 hour lesson and tasting with wine. So excited!!
I have a newfound love for cheese after attending a cheese making class with Louella the Milk Maid and The Cheese School of San Francisco. It was hosted at Stable. Louella is a great teacher, and all the Cheeses School staff also know all you could possibly want to know about cheese. Cheese making is not as complicated as I expected. It's mostly about temperature and timing. I would definitely try to make some at home after this great class. What a fun experience!
Loved this place! Stopped in after walking around the bay. Kept it simple with a grilled cheese and a glass of wine. The blend of cheese was superb, and the California wine was superb. Lovely views of the bay, definitely a relaxing experience. Staff was friendly, and I loved the cheese shop inside the restaurant! Wish I could’ve taken some for the road (I don’t think the cheese would have made the cross country flight home). Highly recommend for any cheese lover looking to relax.
Recently went here for a private cheese making class and it was a blast! Louella explained everything in a manner that both novice & experts could understand. All of her staff is extremely knowledgeable & happy to let you pick their brain. I'd highly suggest signing up for one of her beginning classes if you are looking for a unique activity for a date.
Superb cheese boards and cheese sandwiches. Took the family here for a late lunch and everyone was happy!
Small menu and good food.Cheese is good as you would expect from name.Tomato soup was okie, grilled cheese sandwich was different and good.
Best kept secret in Ghirardelli Square. Crowds outside, fantastic view from the inside. I loved the corn nuts added to the cheese board. Nice touch.
Love this place! Had a beer salad and tomato soup with garlic bread. OMG going back tomorrow for lunch!!!
Great classes, friendly staff and nice selection of delectable food.
My onion soup had so little cheese. For the price they are charging, I was hoping for a bigger ball with lots of cheese. The pork sandwich was very good but naked. Once again, for the price it could have a small side. The service was nice but the items are so overpriced.
Wonderful classes with super knowledgeable instructors
Hidden gem! Very cool place to come if visiting SF, you get to taste really good cheese and learn how to describe/identify which is which. When you first walk in, you enter a little green garden/patio scene where you can enjoy a cold beer. Then you go into the cheese school looks very 'Californian'. Come here if you want the Cali feel.
Cheese boards not good for keto... For those that this would help, the cheese boards are not good for keto as they have a majority sweet pickles, dried fruit, boozie raisins, and bread. 5 small cuts of cheese and 8 small thin sliced cuts of meat. Quality is excellent, but only about 1/8th of the cheese board is keto friendly...usually an easy choice for me, but not here.
Nice location, ordered a grilled cheese and 2 glasses of wine, the bill was $43 plus tip. The sandwich had no visible cheese, on small bread, tomatoe soup was okay, we have eaten at some fine places in the bay area all about $40, for two of us, Disappointed with this choice.
I love cheese
While we didn't do the cheese-tasting masterclass bit (which is inside and you are introduced to the cheese before tasting it) we ate the cheese from the class outside in their courtyard on a beautiful late summer day. It was really a great way to just chill and enjoy the cheeses on offer in a really relaxed setting. I wonder if they do wine pairing?
I just attended a cheese making class with Louella the Milk Maid and The Cheese School of San Francisco. It was hosted at Stable. It was a fantastic learning experience.Louella is a great teacher, hubs and I learned a lot today. It was such a wonderful experience!!!We look forward to taking what we've learned and making cheese at home together.
Yum yum yum! Great little place for relaxing lunch or snack after walking the piers in San Francisco sites. The combo charcuterie plate was amazing.
Outstanding food and friendly service. Great space to have wine and cheese. Nice that you order at the counter
The best Ibhave had in years.
Great selection of food, cheese, and wine. Extremely pleasant, friendly, and helpful staff. Not sure which cheese to get? Someone will be happy to help you decide, including giving samples of the many varieties on hand to help you make your decision. There's a restroom for customers inside, but it's a small, one person at a time space. Seating inside is sightly limited, but there's plenty of room in the square out front. If you get a seat inside, the view is pretty darn good, sitting above the street, looking out towards the water.I did not attend one of their specially cheese aficionado classes, just bought some cheese and bread, but would definitely consider it, given the range of topics they had listed over the next month or so!Did I mention their great staff? They have awesome staff on hand!
Fabulous soup and salad lunch including great cheese. Yes a little pricey but worth it. And we walked right in on black Friday when all the other restaurants had a line out the door.
Great little place in Ghirardelli Square. Had the Mac and Cheese, Grilled Cheese, and Pressed Pork all were delicious.
Had a pizza making team event here, great staff and delicious pizza ingredients, the facilities are also quite nice. Recommended!
Nice in Ghirardelli Square eating and wine tasting
I ordered the grilled chese sandwich with the prosciutto jam. One of the better such sandwiches I've eaten. I think it might be better than one I like in the Ferry Building. Also, the price was nice, considering I am in Fisherman's Wharf at Ghirardelli Square with a table and a view.
If you're a cheese lover like me, there's nowhere better to learn about cheese. The class we took part in was extremely informative and tasty. The cheeses were great quality and extremely tasty. They sell all of the cheeses in the shop as well as a whole host of other cheeses from around the world. One of the best things about this place is that you can really feel the love they have for cheese and it shines through in everything they do, from their presentation, to the sheer amount of knowledge they have and the enthusiasm you're met with if you ask a question.
European style bistro and deli which sells all kinds of cheese, hams, prosciuttos, salami and more and more delicacies. They also serve few dishes and soups. My tomato soup with garlic and parmiggiano reggiano was very tasty.Inside decorations are very nice and I really felt more like back home in Europe than in America.Staff is very polite and kind.Just prices are a quite high but it’s worth it to pay for such a good food! :)
A nice compliment to Ghiradelli Square offering a wide selection of wines, cheese and other fine foods. My family and I visited the store around 2pm so it was a little slow and pretty empty but still plenty of visitors touring the shop. We ordered a charcuterie plate with a bottle of complimenting vino. Service at the counter where orders were placed was just okay. The staff wasn't very friendly and seemed uninterested in anything outside of taking orders. The staff that brought our food to our seats were very friendly. The food was wonderful as was the wine. We had an awesome view of the square and could easily loose track of time with the tasty foods, complimenting wine and spectacular view of the bustling square below.
Yummy!!!!!One word can describe this place. Great food, great service. They have a huge collection of cheese from around the world. Staff is educated well in cheese and happy to teach all about it.
This cafe is awesome there quality of food is much better than others i highly recommend this place
Delicious spot for a snack. The staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about both cheese and wine. The pimento cheese dip was delicious.
